This is a mixed media painting done on a 40 x 26" sheet of textured polypropylene, also known as Yupo.
I made this painting by first spraying water based inks to form large areas of color. Next I dripped alcohol ink, using a color of ink that tends to form orange halos around a brown center, and that has a little bit of blue in it that comes out when exposed to acrylic medium. Then I painted with water using a brush to transform the sprayed ink droplets into more cohesive forms, and poured acrylic medium on top of that. The medium pulls the color up and into itself, and moves the color around as it dries. While the medium was still fluid, I dripped some fluid acrylic paints, mostly iridescent pigments, into it, as well as some other inks.
