Artist's description:

This abstract figurative piece is actually two pieces! It's a diptych that includes two 16 x 15 inch works that are intended to be hung side by side. The diptych is about the sometimes terrible storm of balancing or even understanding two strong sides of yourself that conflict. The lighter face incorporates Bible pages, while the other face is dark with wild hair. The abstract business of the piece represents the conflict. At the same time, the colors and lines are beautiful, which supports the idea that there is beauty to be found during tough times. It would also be interpreted as an opposites attract image. This piece comes with a signed copy of one of my four novels.

I'm an American figurative expressionist painter. I spent the first half of my adult life writing fiction, and then began painting in 2008. I'm the author of five books, including four novels. My art often includes a strong sense of character and story. My primary subject is the complexity of women.

My work is influenced by fashion photography and a childhood spent immersed in the high-end interior design industry. My mother was a successful designer whose work was featured in publications such as Architectural Digest and Southern Living.

To better understand some of the underlying themes and emotional content that influence my art, read my (almost) memoir, Please Love Me, as well as my other books. It can be found on Amazon, along with my other titles.
