This is a series of linoprints showing the changing colours in Rome on a single day, and is quite a personal series for me.
UPDATE: only the first one shown here in Red now available. I was keeping it for myself but now making it available for sale.
Rome has held a life-long fascination for me, with its History, Culture and Architecture, and above all, food. Oh, the food! Then I went here for my honeymoon, and the place took a even deeper meaning. These prints represent what I most remember of Rome from that trip. Ok, the impressive sites and monuments are there... But, what I most remember is the scorching heat of August and the colours of stone in the ruins around the Palatine, and how the city changed its colours from one minute of the day to another. Vibrant purples, yellow, red and blue hues swarmed around my head, and this is the mental image that I carry to this day. Rome also has a gritty feel for me, which I have tried to bring across in the texture of these prints. I have tried to represent my sense of the place in this series of prints.
“The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
This collection of prints marks a departure from some of my other recent work. It is a combination of etching and painterly approaches along with linocut, where marks are made on a piece of lino and this is then printed by hand on paper. Each print is handmade individually, and so is unique. Each handmade print is numbered and has the title and is signed by the artist.
Each print is different in this limited edition series, and can be bought individually or as part of a group. If interested, please contact me and let me know which particular one you are interested in purchasing and owning, so that I could make sure to send the correct one.
Printed using oil-based safe wash inks, on beautiful lightweight printing paper.
Each print is sent unframed with a mount, and the mounted print can be framed in any standard frame. Print size is 7.5 x 9 inches, and the paper size is 12 x 15 inches, although the margin around the picture is substantial.
Prints will be dispatched in a beautiful wrapping in a secure hard-backed envelope. For international buyers, all custom duties and taxes to be paid by the buyer.
