Original artwork description:

A precarious position is symbolized by a ladder in the sky, representing the endless growth sought by capitalist consumerism. An ominous warship signifies a state hijacked by big business interests and leading us into danger; although this could potentially shift to a role of protector through reclamation of power by green politics and people's assemblies.
Social commentary through coastal urban oil paintings of Plymouth, painted in situ/ plein air on the Southwest coast path at Cattedown, featuring fossil fuel tanks. Fossil fuel emissions are a major contributor to climate change.
I didn't set out to paint political art, I simply went out painting plein air and this was on my doorstep. However, a year later the symbolism has occurred to me.
