Artist's description:

In May 2013 I accompanied a friend on a road trip from Wales to Budapest. Our second night saw us in Nuremburg. There was something captivating and enchanting about this reconstructed city where Durer was born. We sought refuge from the rain and a sense of calm and anticipation crept over me. Once home, I played around with the image. However it wasn't until I re-discovered my Sennelier oil pastels, that the whole occasion began to take shape on paper. I was very excited by the emerging images and how the street took on fantastic forms; doors don't necessarily lead you anywhere. And why are there empty shelves - bar a vase - in a shop window? There is more here than initially meets the eye...
