Original artwork description:

A cry for help looks at the taboos and isolation of mental illness. The brush strokes are rough, thick, quick, physical, mirroring the figures frantic nature and urgency. The figure is crying for help but his jaw appears dislocated, his vast mouth unable to form the words to describe his feelings. The lower lip hanging. He has put a bell around his neck to try to create noise another way. He has self harmed by driving a nail through his hand and holds it out pleading to the viewer. His other arm reaches straight into the air to gain attention among the many hands surrounding him. Trying to be noticed. However his palm is not open. It is a clenched fist symbolising his incapability to ask the question. He wears a morning band resigned to the fact that this battle he feels he has already lost.
