This mixed media work is inspired by the artist Cy Twombly and his approach to art. Like him I am fascinated by my own and other childhood drawings and paintings, I love the simplistic, free-thinking and non-assuming approach children have when doing art, it is a time in our lives when mark-making is at it's purest and most inhibited form. It is impossible to regain that as adults because we are too self-aware. My aim with these works is to paint and draw almost automatically and subconsciously. This painting I named after it was finished, it essentially named itself, it gave me its meaning. It is about choice, we all have choices, left or right, good or bad, now or never, stay or go, give or take, help or hinder, love or hate; which bicycle will you choose today?
