The bottom at Cape Tarkhankut contains many stories related to shipwrecks. The protruding western promontory of the Crimean Peninsula has been on the navigable route since antiquity. It was rounded at different times by the ships of the Greeks, Alans, Varangians, Byzantines, Genoese, Ottoman Turks, Ukrainian Cossacks, etc. Difficult rocky relief, dangerous shoals and strong storms make this area dangerous for navigation even now. In order to secure this area, a navigation system has always existed on the cape. The foundations of an ancient (possibly Greek) structure similar to a lighthouse were found here, on which a bonfire was burned in the dark.
