Original artwork description:

84x64 cm each, installation dimensions variable | Filler, oak frame, oak support

To install this work, place the first panel on the floor leaning against the wall. Use oak strips as support. The other panel should be mounted on the wall above and slightly to the right.

For every statement, there is a call. And for every call, there is a response. In a way, all use of language is a question begging for an answer. And every statement has two messages - one for the sender and one for the receiver. In transit, there is only matter, or you might call it information. What is lost in translation is language turned to stuff.

Communication with language establishes a power relation. To receive a statement, you need to submit yourself to the act of interpreting. It requires your body as well as your mind. Your relationship with the outside world is never neutral. It either wants something from you, or you need something from it. To relate to this, sometimes conflicting desires is what constitutes being an independent subject.

Materials used:

Filler (coarse and fine) in oak frame
