Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

I was watching a documentary about the mapping of the known universe and was amazed to find that the milky way is 100,000 light years wide!

I was trying to get my head around that number so decided to create a 'milky way' looking map with 10,000 dots (each representing 10 light years).

Hopefully the artwork will remind the viewer that we are so very small compared to our home galaxy and the universe. It's supposed to humble you and help to realise the most important things in life.

I chose to use black acrylics on white paper as I like working with these mediums.

Keywords: black, space, time, black and white , conceptual, milky way, distance, dots, expressive, abstract

Materials used:

acrylic paint
