Linocut (1979). Original size: 36.3 x 31.5cm. Compare with ‘Tillers of the Soil’. Whilst the ploughman still guides the plough, here, instead of the horses, a tractor does the heavy work. But this too is an archetypal scene: there’s the plough, the furrow and the crying of the prospecting gulls in search of the nourishment being revealed by the ploughers.

This print is authorised for publication by the artist's Estate and has a seal of authenticity embossed onto the white paper margin. It is from a limited edition of 850 and is hand-numbered and hand-embossed. This print has a typed caption running along its paper border. The caption indicates permission and authorisation from the artist's Estate, and from the museum or gallery holding the work. The caption will be concealed by a mount when the print is framed.
