The Window is one of the largest original oil paintings Ryan Louder has ever made - oil on linen canvas, 185 x 292 cm (73 x 115 inches), by London artist Ryan Louder. A pale arch at the upper left reads as both a doorway and a skull, and inside the central mass faces come and go: a mask-like profile in pale yellow, a broadly painted face in orange at the upper right, smaller figures pressing through the paint lower down.

This painting is part of a body of work shaped by my neurological condition - Narcolepsy with REM Intrusion Hallucinations, clinically confirmed via MSLT at Guy's Hospital, London. The whole surface is built from wet, assertive slabs of brown, teal, orange and pink, and nothing holds still: every form dissolves at its edges back into the atmosphere around it.

Neuroaesthetic markers present: embedded faces and mask-like profiles surfacing inside larger forms; doorway-arch ambiguity, architecture that reads as anatomy (chimeric fusion); figure-ground collapse throughout, no stable negative space; identity multiplicity, multiple faces competing for the same body; wet slab brushwork keeping every boundary unstable.

These markers are not deliberate artistic techniques but direct visual recordings of what REM intrusion hallucinations look like. The imagery emerges from neurological experience, not metaphor. I have painted over 2,000 works, with over 1,000 originals sold.
