The Luminous Interval (2026) Original Pastel Drawing by Ivan Colas

49.5 x 69.5 x 1cm (unframed) / 49.5 x 65.5cm (actual image size)

$987.19

he Luminous Interval explores the suspended moment between appearance and disappearance. A fluid form seems to emerge from the darkness, crossed by an inner light that extends into the landscape like a vibration.

Created entirely in dry pastel, the work plays with layered colors, luminous halos, and the traces left by gesture. Deep blues, pinks, oranges, and yellows create a contrast between the silent vastness of the background and the radiant energy of the central form.

The central figure remains deliberately undefined. It may suggest an opening, a passage, a presence, or a movement. It invites the viewer to project their own interpretation onto the image.

The reflected light on the ground extends this presence, creating a dialogue between what appears to float and what seems to touch the material world.
