This painting emerged from a space of stillness — and was then unsettled. As I built the layered greys and soft partitions, a quiet logic formed across the surface. But midway, I felt the need to break that calm. The bold strokes of red and orange weren’t part of the plan; they came in suddenly, like thoughts that demanded to be heard. I see this work as a record of that moment — when structure is interrupted, not for chaos, but for clarity. It's in these breaks, these insertions, that the work begins to breathe differently. That’s where meaning lives for me — just off-balance, just slightly unexpected.
