Sleeping Model (2023) Original Oil Painting by Ryan Louder

Sleeping Model is a large original oil painting on unstretched canvas, 218 x 100 cm (86 x 39 inches), painted in 2023 by London artist Ryan Louder.

A figure lies curled on their side across the full width of the canvas, a compressed foetal arc that runs edge to edge. The body is painted in muted greens, ochres and pale flesh that merge into the deep purple-crimson ground, so the line between person and surface never fully resolves. The hair sits in yellow-green impasto, a different temperature from the face entirely. The skin carries a mottled, almost mossy texture, somewhere between body and the material it rests on, and the violet swirls beneath pull at the figure like a current.

This is boundary dissolution as the condition actually delivers it, not metaphor. I have painted over 2,000 works, with over 1,000 originals sold.
