Juwangsan is one of Korea’s beautiful national parks, known for its dramatic mountains and peaceful natural scenery. I created this work while recalling a family trip there with my wife and son.
The figures walking through the landscape are my own characters, inspired by and playfully reinterpreted from the figures in Georges Seurat’s paintings. The white teapot represents my wife, while the yellow cup represents my son, becoming a small reflection of myself and my family within the scene.
For me, the landscape is more than a beautiful place. It holds the memories of time spent together and the simple happiness we experienced as a family. I wanted to capture that feeling of walking side by side with someone you love, surrounded by nature.
The cherry blossoms and gentle atmosphere of spring add a sense of warmth and nostalgia to the painting, reminding us that beautiful moments, like seasons, are precious because they do not last forever.
My paintings are rooted in the happiness and memories of my family, transforming ordinary journeys into lasting moments on canvas.
