Two antique brass keys, their bows overlapping, leaning into one another as though in quiet conversation. There is an unmistakable intimacy in the way they rest together, two separate things that seem to belong side by side.

This small painting is about connection and companionship, the keys standing in for a pair, a partnership, two lives that fit alongside each other. Painted in oils, the warm gold and amber of the aged brass glows against the soft blush background, each highlight and patina mark carrying the history of long use.
