I'm driving (2012) Photograph by Kamila Karpinska

“I’m driving” was photographed in Croatia during a summer journey along the Adriatic coast. The image captures a quiet moment of movement and freedom, seen from inside a boat. The combination of the human figure, water, light and strong geometric lines creates a minimalist, cinematic composition.

I chose black and white to emphasize the contrast, form and atmosphere rather than the colors of the landscape. The photograph is about the feeling of being on the way — the freedom of travel, the warmth of summer and the simple pleasure of being in the moment.

I hope the image evokes a sense of freedom, movement and escape, while leaving space for the viewer to create their own story.
