I wanted this close-up portrait to express a quiet yet resilient spirit. To me, the lines of the face are not simply signs of age; they carry experience, memory, and the strength of a life lived. I made the eyes the emotional center of the painting, inviting the viewer to encounter the subject through a direct and contemplative gaze.

I used deep browns, earthy reds, and blacks as the dominant palette, building the facial structure with bold, expressive brushwork. Short strokes of lighter color emphasize the forehead, nose, cheekbones, and areas around the eyes. The dark mass of the hair creates a strong contrast with the warm face, while the lighter earring provides a subtle visual accent. I intentionally preserved visible brushstrokes and color blocks to combine realism with expressive energy.
