Fortune (2023) Original Oil Painting by Fatih Sungurtekin

Fortune is a layered oil painting by Fatih Sungurtekin that blends everyday memories with poetic reflections. Using symbols such as postcards, embroidered fabrics, wall textures, and a fishing rod wrapped in newspaper, the artist transforms ordinary rituals into metaphors for memory. Inspired by the poems of Orhan Veli and the gilded aesthetics of Gustav Klimt, the serene central figure forms the basis of the composition. Created with collage principles, this oil painting brings together past and present, personal experience and imagination, offering a thought-provoking visual narrative about time, life, and emotional memory.

Fortune invites viewers to reflect on how seemingly ordinary objects and rituals carry profound emotional weight. Through careful layering and symbolic association, Sungurtekin turns these fragments of life into a contemplative narrative about identity, history, and the human need to preserve meaning through art.
