"Everything Blooms Eventually" (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Julia Borg

Everything Blooms Eventually was created as the central artwork for Flora et Musica, an exhibition in Malta that brought painting and live music together. At two metres square, the work was conceived as an immersive floral composition — a garden experienced through colour, rhythm and movement.

Built in layers of acrylic and oil on canvas, large pink and crimson flowers unfold against flashes of blue, turquoise, green and white. Energetic brushwork and contrasting marks allow the forms to move between recognisable flowers and abstraction. Colour carries the composition in the same way rhythm carries music.

The title reflects the idea that growth has its own timing. Through flowers, I explore inner transformation, feminine strength and the moment when something that has been developing quietly finally comes into bloom.

The balanced composition allows the painting to be displayed in different orientations, giving the collector flexibility to choose how it interacts with the space.
