He saw something and he turned away. Not fast enough.

I was after what happens to the body one second before you understand. The shoulder that pulls in on its own. The head that drops without your deciding it. The left arm hanging, no longer good for anything.

The blaze burns in front of him : orange, then red, then the indigo eating the top of the sheet. He isn't looking at it any more, but he can't get out of it. The lines pass behind his shoulders and come back in front of his hips. He is inside it.

It happens to us. Something enormous appears and the body decides before we do, in a fraction of a second, without asking. Afterwards we can't say what we saw. You would need to live it several times to begin to understand, but it never happens twice.
