Original artwork description
Encounter
An abstract spring garden in thick, layered oil paint: pinks, reds and whites, flecks of yellow, blue and gold, and a blazing orange comet streaking across the upper corner. A fine crimson line runs inside the border like a garden wall, holding the blossom in while the colour spills outward.
Encounter reflects on the idea that the word “paradise” comes from the Persian for “walled garden”: a space both protected and open to discovery. Here, something from far beyond the wall arrives. It suggests the moment of unexpected meeting, when something shifts and a boundary is crossed.
The painting invites quiet contemplation of how we meet the world, sometimes by chance and sometimes by grace, and of how such moments can feel like stepping briefly into paradise.
About the series
Encounter belongs to a series in which each painting takes a nine-letter title, exploring the layered meanings a single word can hold.
In your space
Bright and full of movement, it would bring warmth to a bedroom, living room or hallway, and rewards close looking: the surface is rich with texture and small details.
