"The Wonderer, 2017" by Alexa Aulds

'She is thinking, contemplating, looking back over her shoulder and asking questions, asking for more, marvelling. Asking ‘what if?’ The ambiguity of the word ‘wonderer’; the curiosity and awe, but also the doubt and uncertainty. Each time we look at her we see her in a new light. Everyone will have their own ideas about what she is thinking, but I shall leave you to wonder about that!'

"Monument, 2017" by Boris Pecigoš

'The painting explores the space that becomes actual after the death of a man - is it the physical position of the carcass in a "pit" or symbolic floating in the vastness of the universe? The painting tries to encourage the observer to ask questions that he will have to answer himself: What do I leave behind? In which space will this legacy reside? Just as a monument on my own grave? As a memory in the minds and hearts of those who knew and loved me? As a footnote in administrative records? Or as a complete memory in the collective consciousness of the universe?'

"Ophelia, 2017" by Kellie Schofield

'An uninspiring sickly yellow colour filled the sky as I began to paint. And as I listened to news of others abroad at the mercy of the elements , all was eerily still at home outside, and inside, the social media was awash with comments about a strange post apocalyptic ambience . I rejected the yellow tones on my palette and turned instead to teal and turquoise, black, and a rusty red. The result is this artwork, my own hurricane.'

"I can smell it!, 2017" by Niki Katiki

'"I can smell it!" is an original contemporary realistic food painting. It is a large realistic painting so rich in detail that it becomes unreal and thus surpasses all sense or naturalism.'

"The Miracle of the Bloom, 2017" by Andrew Alan Johnson

'A floral extravaganza of colour and textures. The Miracle of the Bloom celebrates the beauty of nature in it's most vibrant energy and form. Full of detail, textures and the happy marriage of watercolours and acrylics, this is a truly powerful statement piece that will captivate for years and years to come.'

"AZURE BLUE, 2017" by KKahy

'This technique is my own and is very unique. The clouds open at just the right time to expose the brilliant Azure blues layered over a golden sky. This piece is textured and holds multi layers of paints and pigments to add a peaceful opulence to any décor.'

"Shanghai Fog, 2017" by Serge Horta

'This photo was taken in 2009 from the window of my Shanghai hotel room. After days of constant heavy rain I woke up early in the morning to catch a flight. The rain had just stopped. The surreal and silent cityscape that surrounded the hotel windows was almost hypnotising. For an hour I stared at the view and watched the skyscrapers appear and disappear. I waited for the heavy mist to dissipate so I could take some clear shots. I ended up missing my flight...'

"Cobb Hall, University Of Chicago, 2017" by Leon Sarantos

'This contemporary painting displays a lively and colorful cityscape scene on the University of Chicago campus. I’m an architect, as well as an artist, so I really appreciate the Gothic architecture on the UChicago quads. Cobb Hall at the University of Chicago was designed by architect Henry Ives Cobb, and is the oldest building on campus. Cobb modeled his designs after the Gothic style of architecture at Oxford in England. I used my architectural skills to create a realistic portrayal of this elegant building that represents its proportions and depth.'
