“This piece is inspired by the colours and movement within a pond that I photographed on an overcast day. I was amazed at the vibrancy of colour that leapt out of the water, the bright orange and red fish and the almost superficial green colour of the pond weed against the dark water. I wanted to capture the light and easy movement of the fish alongside these vivid colours.”

The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.
