    Working in the open air!

I love painting outside and during my holiday in Wales I got to spend a whole day painting in the mountains, such a beautiful awsome location!

My Blog post for Jackson's Art.

My Blog post for Jackson's Art.

I was recently asked by 'Jackson Art' to write a review on Isaro watercolour paints from Portugal. I really enjoyed the experience and love the paints, they have added real vibrancy and sparkle to my watercolours. The review included a step-by-step insight into the way I paint. The finished painting pictured here entitled Monet's Lily Pond, is now available for sale. Another bluebell wood in pastel on Clairfontaine pastelmat. This painting is a view I sketched last May when I visited Weyland Wood in Breckland.

    Still On the Easel!

Another bluebell wood painting nearing completion. A couple of days drying needed before the final touches. I intend to add more colour, light and texture to the painting

Another wonderful visit to Monet's iconic garden at Giverny, France. A peaceful productive day spent gathering reference material for a new series of paintings!

I have not painted wildlife for sometime so I decided to capture this beautiful black swan in oils. I have used red for my under painting as it's a lovely contrast to the black swan and green water lilies. When the painting is finished only small flecks of red will appear glowing through. I have a lot of work ahead of me to paint all the feather detail.

    FINISHED - SPRING BLUEBELLS

    FINISHED - SPRING BLUEBELLS

Another bluebell wood painting finished. This painting has been a bit of a tussel, however it is finally finished and I am happy with the spring colours and dappled shade I've achieved. The oil paints have been thickly applied using an impasto technique and I've continued the painting around around the edges. The painting will now be left for a few months to thoroughly dry

On the Easel - April 2018

Yesterday I started this little oil painting of a bluebell wood. I wanted to keep it quite mysterious and loose. The painting has reached the stage where I need to leave it to dry before continuing further.  The next couple of weeks bluebells look there best so I shall be visiting plenty of Norfolk woodland sketching and painting reference material to keep me busy over the summer
