    Bright is beautiful

I just had so much fun making this painting yesterday in my studio. Talk about a 'feel good factor' ... female form with such bright, beautiful colours! Intoxicating, fun and joyful. I started with a sketch I'd done of a model in a stunning pose, her back, bottom and of course those amazing bottom dimples that I love to paint so much ;) I knew the colour I wanted in my background, bright green and yellow and as I worked first on the background it became clear to me that the best way to allow the figure in the painting to 'speak' was for her to have no colour added and to allow the colours around her to pervade her. Let me know what you think.

    Red Transformation in situ

    Red Transformation in situ

I have done a massive 'photoshoot' of new images showing my artworks in-situ. I had loads of fun and it gives us a nice idea of what the artwork can look like in a real context. I've updated the artwork images on my page with these new 'in-situ' photos.

    Texture

This gives you an idea of the way I like to paint when I work with oils. Subtle, thinner oil coverage and even bits of untouched canvas as well as thick brush strokes. Passionate.

Oil paints! Delicious food for the pallet.

Oil paints! Delicious food for the pallet.

These are some of my favourite oil paints. I use various brands depending on the particular colours I love. My favourite has to be Maimeri Classico Oils. With my love of everything Italian I couldn't help but fall for these paints! Seriously, this series has the most amazing blues: Sky Blue and Primary blue for example.
