    Portrait Experiments

    I have been working hard in the studio to develop different ways of painting edges and how varying the texture of the surface plays with them. A great way to do this is with a self portrait as the model always turns up and doesn't mind it if the session runs over. In this portrait I was exploring being absorbed in a painting and literally dissolving in to the painting surface and it made it through to the final selection stages of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition.

    2018 was a great year for me in the Royal Society of Portrait painters Exhibition at the Mall Galleries. I had two portraits in the show and sold one of them! Many thanks to everyone who spoke to me at the preview and visited while the Exhibition was running.
