I have been lucky enough to have a portrait of one of our models, Lia, that has been accepted in to the 2017 exhibition.
Biography
I have always been drawn to art that has been developed from classical roots. During my time studying artists working since the renaissance I find myself returning to the drawings and paintings created by the French and Russian academies as they search for ever more skilful ways of representing the figure. The current generation of artists that have this kind of classical foundation and are making interesting art by using impressionistic and illustrative techniques alongside are producing the art that excites me and drives me in my own work.
I work in oil paints mostly as I love the contrasting ways it can be used either in deep translucent layers or textured impasto.
