    We Are ( oil on canvas 70 x 90cm)

    We Are ( oil on canvas 70 x 90cm)

This is one of 31 portraits that feature in my current solo exhibition 'On The Face Of It' . I wanted to show the togetherness of this close couple. I wanted to paint them together in a way that both faces equally packed a punch. Midnight blue background to mirror his shirt makes them look almost illuminated.

    Spa Treatment

    Spa Treatment

Commission for a regular collector. A very quirky take on Vermeer's 'Girl With A Pearl Earring'. I very much enjoyed painting this unusual request, which despite it's quirkiness, makes perfect sense. A gold acrylic Baroque pattern added to the background gives a lovely rich feel overall.

A fluffy polar bear receiving a hug from a mature Debbie Harry, while John Lennon adjusts his bow tie from the other side. Surrealist request for a regular collector. Very specific details for this request as always...great fun painting this collector's imagination.

    Emily (commission)

I get a lot of commission requests. Commissions are a wonderful way of capturing a moment in time, particularly with young little people who change so quickly. I am always very happy to discuss commission ideas, regardless of subject matter, and can be easily arranged either via Artfinder, or direct.

'On The Face Of It' Solo exhibition, Devon UK

'On The Face Of It' Solo exhibition, Devon UK

I like to have a solo exhibition every three years or so. It is necessary to maintain my profile and draw attention to my work from potential new collectors. I am currently painting a large body of works for my next solo show ( Oct 2019) in Theatre Royal Plymouth. It will comprise of approximately 28 - 30 anonymous portraits of local people. On the face of it refers to the way that we judge something at first glance, and that our perception can change if we take the time to look a little closer. I have kept the sitters anonymous and without a narrative in the hope that they will be studied and the viewers can come to their own conclusions. It takes a lot of work building the series for this, which I am speedily beavering away at between commissions...so for that reason, new works will not be uploaded for sale while I have that deadline to work to. I have plenty of works available in my Artfinder store, so please have a look.
