    The process of making a final exhibition print.

    The print maker scans the original transparency film or print film image. The scanned image then needs to be adjusted to match the original film image. Not very easy since the digital scan is in a different color space from the film image. And the way I expose some images can create interesting colors that the digital space has problems matching. So, we start with a proof. I make notations about what needs to be changed and send it back to the print maker. Then, a couple of weeks later, another proof – number 2. I make notations about what needs to be changed and send it back to the print maker. Then, a couple of weeks later, another proof – number 3. I make notations about what needs to be changed and send it back to the print maker. Then, a couple of weeks later, another proof – number 4. I make notations about what needs to be changed and send it back to the print maker. And so on until the image is correct and ready for the final exhibition print.
