Ian Scott Massie grew up close to the childhood home of Paul Nash – an abiding influence in his work He began painting professionally while a student in Durham. Working first in oils and screen print, his work progressed through acrylic ink and paint before he settled comfortably into the medium of watercolour, which he frequently combines with unlikely materials such as Indian ink, sepia and wax. He has specialised for some years in single themed exhibitions which frequently draw inspiration from stories and his work is shown in galleries across the UK. His aim is to capture the personality of places.
