    THE FRENCH EXPRESS - ANNECY ANIMATION FESTIVAL

    Seeing the pulsing world of animation and joining the genuine atmosphere, séances and projections of the 2018 Annecy festival with it’s MIFA market was an amazing experience and fulfiled dream to me. I learned French years ago because I simply loved the sound of it. Later on I was amazed with the thorough way the French language enables to formulate the ideas while keeping the onomatopoeia-experience beautiful. (I belong to that tiny Czech minority that doesn’t blame Milan Kundera for writing his originals in French). But here, in Annecy understanding “les réalisateurs” when they spoke vividly about their work and processes together with watching their animated style, gave all the new sense to my own modest animation dreams and expression. And yes, the festival was dedicated to the Brazilian artists who bring fresh, free, eclectic and for that reason heterogenous air to the “industry”.

    THE IRIS

    THE IRIS

    This photo needs a commentary. For the painting reasons (where I have a deadline) I brought a lot (a big lot) of bulbs from Netherlands and planted them. Because of my travel schedule reasons it happened quite off the agro-technical deadlines when I planted the bulbs. As a result I now chase the rare blooms of iris standing in the bushes. The irises would normally bloom three months ago and I am scared to cut them as the bloom would die in the vase within a day or two and blooming irises are sooo unique in June. I also paint the one blue bloom in variety of colors at once as a study for my further work. The child photographer (5 years old taking pics. of everything) shot this photo from a ladder in a nearby tree and her answer to my question:”Where’s the real iris on your photography?” persuaded me that the real iris bloom can calmly stay out of the view. She said: “Your paintings look better than the the flower itself”.

    INVITATION: PREMIERE OF SHORT STOP MOTION FILM IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE, FRANCE

    The premiere of the short hilarious animation called: "L'Histoire de L'UE dans 30 secondes - Trouvez les Erreurs" takes place at the central boulevard Cours Mirabeau in Aix-en-Provence, France on Wednesday May 9th, 2018 from 10 am during the European Day. This film was made in two half-days in May 2018 by international team during, and this is incredible honor for me, "Ateliérs Créatifs de Hana Auerova" in Provence. You find it in loop till 6 p.m. at the booth of L' Association Amitié Franco-Tchèque. Open air, free "entrance".

    GIVING STOP-MOTION WORKSHOPS IN PROVENCE, FRANCE

    Getting a chance to prepare and hold three workshops of stop-motion in the South of France was one the highlights of my recent art related activities. One of the “Ateliers d’ animation classique” took place at the University of Aix-en-Provence where the talented students created a short stop-motion movie. Two longer workshops took place also in the Paul Cezanne’s region and were open to the public of any age. The result of these two workshops are 8 short beautiful christmas animated films. Big thanks to everybody who joined us and took time and especially to L’ Association d’ Amitié Franco—Tchèque and their invitation.

    For my Blue Garden collection I use a large variety of flower patterns mostly from the plants that grow in the garden. This way my painting makes me grow more flowers and the garden in bloom makes me paint more garden motives.
