In the Studio: Letting Colour Find Its Way

This is where it begins and where I step back. I work on the floor and on low tables, never at an easel. The canvas lies flat so that colour can move freely, finding its own direction without interference. My tools are unconventional: sponges, glass, found objects anything that touches the surface without leaving a personal mark. No brushstroke remains visible. No gesture asserts itself. What you see in the finished work is not my hand it is the colour’s own decision. This intuitive process is at the heart of every series I create: the 3D works, the Ocean Life paintings, and my newest series Somewhere Before large-format abstracts that capture the feeling of having been somewhere you have never visited. I am based in Hannover, Germany, and work from my studio here. I accept a small number of commissions each year and work with corporate clients on art placement and collection development.

    In the Studio: Somewhere Before

My work begins in silence. I paint at the easel with oil on canvas — slowly, deliberately, layer by layer. The series Somewhere Before grows from a simple question: what does it mean to remember a place you have never been? Each painting is an attempt to answer that, not in words, but in light, water and atmosphere. I work from observation and from memory, often both at once. The process is unhurried. A painting is finished when nothing more can be taken away.
