    I make my own art boards these days. 3mm mdf sealed with PVA and Gesso, mounted onto a framed backing support to prevent warping on larger boards. The miniatures are 10mm mdf, mounting onto homemade wooden frames with screws.

    I recently began making my own fully supported, sealed, toned, ready to hang art boards. I like to have a collection of them finished and ready to go for painting. I find them much better to paint on with oils than canvas. It's also cheaper yet stronger and features straighter corners. 3mm MDF with backing support, sealed with pva glue and gesso, with a layer of paint for toning purposes. I made several different sizes and a stack of framed miniatures. I like to get them all done, that way i can then concentrate on painting them all.
