Adding and subtracting coulour - the math behind colouring material surfaces

Adding and subtracting coulour - the math behind colouring material surfaces

Adding coulour and subtracting (some of it) again, adding and subtracting, leaving darkness in the cracks of a surface or bringing textured surfaces to the attention of the viewer. There can be many phases and iterations of adding and subtracting pigments, using a varitey of traditional or modern binders, before an artwork with a strongly textured surface comes to its final depth of colour.

    Framed by the artist

    Framed by the artist

Some of my artwork have surfaces that seem to be sensitive despite they are in fact very stable and durable. In order to give my customers the confidence that no harm will be done to it during framing the artwork, I decided to put them up already framed. Whenever an artwork comes framed, this will appear in the artwork description. Usully I take simple and straight "shadow gap" frames.

Me and my pool of collage material

Me and my pool of collage material

In the shelves of my little backyard studio in Munich (Neuhausen, near Nymphenburg Castle), I am storing and from time to time browsing through my pool of assorted papers and other collage objects. Collecting These "raw materials" is a passion it iself, imagining the textures, traces and shades they might add to a painting, when deeply integrated into the artwork.
