Dear Art Lovers,
I am thrilled to present the 2020 edition of Artfinder Grad Week, our annual selection of the best of this year’s BA and MA art graduates.
In these unprecedented times - despite lockdowns, continuing restrictions and all the pressures that have come with this - the selected artists have produced outstanding bodies of work. A true testament to their passion, resilience and skill. I want to take this opportunity to also acknowledge the huge efforts from teaching staff across all the art schools, who have continued to provide world-class mentoring throughout the pandemic and allowed us to access the work of the artists despite the physical barriers. From everyone at Artfinder, thank you and we congratulate you all.
Introducing the artists: Caroline Perkins, Imo Crossland, Jonah Fried, Juliette Wright, Jusun Seo, Linda Wallentine, Marie Muller Priqueler, Rosa Butler, Shailee Mehta, Sonam Tobgyal, Sian Fan, Sizuo Chen, Tannah Cantrell and Violet Luczak.
This year’s artists have produced work exploring a wide spectrum of themes and subjects, ranging from the very personal, everyday to the socio-political, including immigration, regeneration, animal and female rights and capitalism. Our relationship with technology and online culture is investigated in several of the artists’ works, from enquiries into social media, memes and cyberspace to finding ways to co-exist with technology. Feminism is also a dominant theme, with womanhood, the female form and sexuality explored and a reclaiming of the female nude through self-portraiture. The collection also includes process-driven approaches, where the materiality of the medium is the focus.
Artists were selected from leading art schools, including Brighton University, Camberwell College of Art, UAL, Central Saint Martins, UAL, Chelsea College of Art, UAL, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Lesley University College of Art and Design, London College of Communication, UAL, Manchester School of Art, Royal College of Art, San Francisco Art Institute, Slade School of Fine Art, UCL and Winchester School of Art.
This is an opportunity to discover some of the best of new emerging talent worldwide and support artists at this particularly difficult time.
Enjoy the collection!
