From cavities to canvas: Denver-based artist quits dentistry to go full-time with her art

Denver-based artist Cristina Mihailescu quit her job as a dental technician to go full time with her art following 140+ sales with Artfinder.

Cristina moved to Highlands Ranch, Colarado in 2008 from her native Romania, and since joining Artfinder in 2014 has sold over 140 artworks all over the world, including Canada, Australia, the UK, France and Pakistan. She quit her full time job in September 2014 and hasn’t looked back since.

Cristina comments:

"I trained as a dental technician in Romania because the field was in demand and because of the better opportunities offered by the career. But I also felt that I still got chance to be an artist. Sculpting, building teeth is an art too! When I first joined Artfinder in August 2014, I sold six paintings in the first two weeks."

"Following those sales and a lot of encouragement by my family I dared to quit my day job and dedicate myself exclusively to my art. I know that it will be a long journey, and that I will have to work hard but it’s a dream come true for me! In a very strange coincidence, I sold my 100th painting exactly a year to the day I first joined Artfinder. The day before I was up to 97 sales and then one of my collectors in Australia bought three paintings taking it to the perfect 100!"
