"Rabbit Punch, 2015" by Denise Laurent

“A pair of boxing hares leaping through the grass. Mad March hares are a real sign that spring is on it’s way. Hare courtship involves boxing, and is usually reluctant females fending off amorous males. In this watercolour painting she’s giving him a great rabbit punch on the nose!”

"Rose, 2015" by adam craemer

“This is a mixed-media street style stencil portrait of a woman, Rose. I have taken an approach to portraits and nudes where I challenge how far I can push the medium and still see form and shape in the finished product.”

"Esasperazione del concetto, 2014" by Graziano Locatelli

“During my chaotic childhood, I developed an intense and uncanny fascination towards broken objects, damaged cars and isolated towns in ruins, that were common nearby the mountains from which I come from. I wonder what meanings and feelings these (once) familiar places arouse in those who lived there. I see them as restless dreams, spaces in ruins inhabited by ghosts that still retain an embryonic life. This attraction to transformation through breaking became the main theme and the vision underlying my work. I am driven by the desire to change the inevitable fate of familiar and unpretentious objects, such as bathroom and kitchen tiles. My early works are sharp and are often torn apart by heads and figures that try and break the wall.”

"Vapory, 2015" by Darren Thompson

“‘Vapory’ is part of a series of depicting the female figure reading. I use subdued colors and loose brush strokes, as in most of my paintings, in order to create the mood and feel of an urban setting. Art buyers may see a symbolic reference to prominent 20th century American painters like George Bellows, John Sloan, Isabell Bishop, and Edward Hopper.”

"Cornish Heath (County Flower of Cornwall), 2015" by Peter Walters

“In 2002 ‘Plantlife’, a wild plant conservation charity, ran a County Flowers campaign inviting the general public to vote for the flower they felt most represented their county. The selected flowers are now the subject of my latest art project celebrating Great British Flora, in which I aim to create a piece of artwork for each of the County Flowers. With Cornwall being my home county I have selected Cornish Heather as my maiden piece in the series. This limited edition, digital textured collage captures the attractive summer bloom found on Cornwall's Lizard peninsula.”

"Esther in Purple, 2015" by Liz Lever

“A beautiful original cut-out of an abstract nude. The nude figure is meticulously cut by hand from painted paper, before being mounted on crisp off-white paper. Initially inspired by the wonderful Matisse, I aim to capture the elegance of the female form in bold simplicity.”

"Sailing Barge Thalatta, 2015" by John Garrett

“A woodcut print of a maritime treasure! Thalatta is a spritsail barge with bowsprit allowing her to carry a good spread of canvas. Built in 1906, she's now run by the East Coast Sail Trust for sail training. A member of the British Printing Society, I came to print making through working with a talented local artist who prints etching and woodcuts. I particularly enjoy creating works from photographs, exploring the challenge of making monochrome designs from grey-scale or colour images. Keen on the local river scenes, I am now working on etchings and woodcuts of east coast craft.”

"Brink of Winter, 2015" by Cynthia Ligeros

“‘Brink of Winter’ is part of my geometric series. These geometric abstract oil paintings explore the subtle balance between order and chaos, darkness and light, structure and freedom. Immerse yourself in worlds of circles, lines and shapes that remain elusive even as they gradually reveal their inner secrets...”

"Red Filter, 2015" by Simon Fairless

“An abstract painting in splash art style made famous by Jackson Pollock. The technique looks random and and easy to achieve, however these take quite a bit of planning to create a balance across the whole piece built up over several layers and here with a little more control applied. Quite often I'll use a smaller work as a study to a larger canvas to ensure the technique or colours will work. Here I wanted use a stencil technique to create the impression of a grid behind the splash art style, whilst also introducing a colour to the tonal work. The effect is a lovely combination piece perfect for a modern interior design.”

"Paddling before the rain, 2014" by Sally Prendergast

“Remember that feeling from your childhood? Your parents waving from the beach, ushering you into the embrace of a scratchy towel before the heavens open? And now you're adult, safe in a wind-cheater with jeans rolled up, watching the clouds gather before you race to the nearest pub...”
