"I Love You for Sentimental Reasons (Skirrid Mountain), 2015" by Elizabeth Westcott

“This is an impressionistic painting of cow-parsley and wild grasses, swaying in the breeze under the Skirrid Mountain, in South Wales. Local folklore says that the fissure on one side of the mountain was said to have been a split caused at the time of the crucifiction of Christ. It is therefore also known as Holy mountain, and has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries. This painting is embellished with gold and silver leaf.”

"Hot Bed Rogue Flower, 2015" by Theresa Shaw

“If you have ever been to RHS Rosemoor in North Devon, you will know their hot garden is a highlight of the Summer. Strong yellows, oranges and reds are contrasted with rich purples and bronze - truly stunning and a garden on fire! This is my interpretation with the addition of a rogue flower, the humble yet striking, bright blue cornflower. Keep looking - there is always something new to find in this garden!”

"Wardour Street, Soho, London, 2014" by Katharine Rowe

“I love the frenzy of Chinatown, especially at night, and am working on several different views. This is the first, the lower part of Wardour Street, where at night the street seems to glow in pinks and reds. I aimed, in this painting, to construct the street from the different shining lights rather than just painting the buildings reflecting light on them.”

"Dreaming of Venice.., 2015" by Cristina Mihailescu

“Claude Monet was 68 years old when he fell in love with Venice. He stayed 2 months and painted 37 paintings, but he never finished the last painting he started there. What would it have looked like...? This is my interpretation. I loved so much to work at this piece and I am satisfied with the results. I hope Monet would have liked my humble painting and also I really hope you will enjoy it, too.”

"Pensive, 2015" by Adam Hornsby

“I remember once someone telling me that the old masters used to do self portraits as a way of saying "Hey! Look how good I am! This painting of me actually looks like me", in a much more refined way of course. I couldn't help but think of that painting this. Self portraits are intrinsically self reflective. You end up seeing a lot more of yourself than you intend on. I've always found portraits to be an exploration of the person I'm painting and I really felt that with this. It was fascinating.”

"Together we Dream (Large Work), 2015" by Mel Graham

“There are many places we go to in our dreams, and for me, it is the gorgeous colours of nature, listening to the birdsong, the buzzing bees and the breeze rustling the flora. I love the outdoors, so I try and bring it indoors with my work. I hope I have captured a little of your dream time in this piece with the bronze, the magenta, the purples and soft blues; it is these earthy hues that help me relax most. Take a moment with this piece to look and dream...let the light catch the gentle bronze brushstrokes, lose your thoughts and find some inner peace.”

""Luminescent", 2015" by Katie Jobling

"I absolutely loved creating this painting as the whole time I felt like I was actually at the ocean. The light that breaks through the clouds and dances on the waves, just lets you breathe. Using a palette knife I added texture onto the sunlight and the waves, and added drips across the painting to keep it fluid and with that abstract edge."

“Remember the feeling when you were flying in your dream the moment you wake up? Ah me too! This is why my art is so full of levitating objects: weightless creatures, kites, origami, fish...everything that gets airborne fascinates and inspires me. This particular work is part of the origami collection which is currently my main stream to develop the signature and recognisable style as I continue to transcend the subject of deviation into my art.”

"Fire and Ice, 2012" by Nicola McLean

“A while ago I went through a little obsession with rain drops on windows and how it can take an ordinary scene and turn it into something a little bit more magical. This painting was actually inspired by ice on a window as we sat huddled in a little coffee shop in Krakow in -23 degree temperatures! There was an old fashioned street lamp just outside casting a lovely orange glow and I love how it created an abstract scene and this was my interpretation of it.”

"Summer high, 2014" by j

“Laying in Saltram meadows a summer scene of blue sky and fluffy clouds as a backdrop to the flowering and seeding Dandelions appeared to me during the wonderful summer of 2013. Did you ever lie down in a meadow staring at the sky like this when you were a child? When the world seemed so big and exciting, full of magic, your whole life stretching out before you and nothing but eagerness to discover a world around you in which time seemed to move so slowly?”
