"Cliff Overlooking Lake with Colorful Trees, 2014" by Michele Fritz

“I spend a good deal of time in the Lake of the Ozarks. One of the most picturesque areas is Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Cliff Overlooking Lake is drawn from the balcony of the stone ruins of Robert Snyder's mansion located in this park. In the early 1900s, the wealthy Kansas City businessman purchased 5,000 acres that included a spring-fed lake. He selected a site on the rocky summit above for his retirement home, saying, "I will fish and loaf and explore the caves of these hills, with no fear of intrusion."”

"Potpourri, 2015" by Michelle Carolan

“Lively, abstract and full of energy! I was inspired by tangled branches and berries to create an intoxicating potpourri of red, aqua & green with a splash of pink!”

"Road Trip, 2015" by Kume Bryant

“This painting is inspired by one of our road trips to Tombstone, Arizona. It rained all day, but on our way back home, the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to peep out in the edge of the sky. It was close to sunset, and casting beautiful golden colors above the distant mountains and a layer of lovely fog was settling between the mountains.”

"Penguin - Ice, 2015" by Carl Moore

“Penguin - Ice is part of my Dripster series. To make the perfect penguin I looked at tens of thousand of photos of penguins and spent over a week selecting a handful of useful images. Then I cut out and collaged different elements from each penguin to make the perfect penguin. Usually I'll make three or four and work them all at the same time until I can decide which is the best final image to use. After manipulating the image to get the hues and vibrancy I wanted, I then added the drips which are taken from a collection of 'brushes' I've put together over the years from open-source and my own photographs. These drips are created to suggest both a barcode and DNA sequence.”

"Full of Wonder, 2015" by Drew Noel Marin

“My style is abstract impressionistic. Once I figure out my composition and color scheme, it's a fun spiral roller coaster of trial and error. "Full of Wonder" is one of my absolute favorites! If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for blue and turquoise. This painting is a misty seascape using a monochromatic color scheme. Layer after layer building color intensities of highs and lows makes for a moody, yet tranquil piece.”

"Tower Guide, 2015" by Jane Wilson

“I've had this 1938 original guide to The Tower of London in my collection for a while now. Rust from the original staples had started to eat away at the paper so I removed them and realised the damage was much more severe than I had first thought. The cover was in very good condition though, with some lovely mottling where the paper had discoloured and aged and fantastic 1930s typography. The painting subject matter was easy, my glossy Raven is the natural Tower Guide!”

"Elephant in Teapot, 2015" by Rocxis Ortiz

“I am a big fan of Dali's style, so I decided to play a little bit with surrealism. I came up with this idea on night, dreamy, when I was about to get to to bed. Some time ago, in Spain, parents used to tell their children that babies came from Paris carried by storks flying all the way. Then I dreamed for a while how it would be the same stories told by elephants, and I thought they would be carried by storks inside teapots. With this picture I try to grow curiosity in the viewer's mind, to excite imagination. So I think a surrealistic composition is one of the best ways to do that.”

"Scar Tissue II, 2015" by Anita Ives

“One of a series of studies of urban silver birches. To me the scarring caused by pollution creates beautiful textures on trees that are often planted for decoration. The work is made of watercolour, acrylic ink with paper thin pieces of the silver birch bark added.”

"Vapour trails, 2015" by Alex Ebdon

“As the sun sets over Ealing the clouds are caught by the most fantastic light, like flames licking the coming night's sky. The sun peeps out from between the rows of houses, its final soft light for the day glowing from the parked cars and windows of the houses. And above, two vapour trails almost intersect as planes make their descent to Heathrow - the passengers witnessing the incredible colours in this beautiful scene from on high.”

"Autumn around the corner, 2015" by Jamie Sugg

“Autumn around the corner' is a contemporary acrylic painting, painted mainly with palette knives. The painting depicts a scene from a nearby lode, the sun setting low behind the trees, a trickle of light reflecting on the water and the dark shadows beginning to form.”
