"Fab Ice Lolly Pop Art Painting With Sprinkles, Original Acrylic Painting On Canvas, 2014" by Ian Viggars

“I was inspired to paint this simply out of love for the Fab ice lolly. They remind me of childhood summers, but since I started creating paintings inspired by food I appreciated how well designed Fab lollies are too. I brought a canvas that mimicked the shape of the lolly and broke it up into three blocks - strawberry, vanilla, and the chocolate section covered in ‘hundreds and thousands’. I feel that even if you don't know what a Fab lolly is you could still appreciate the painting as a work of abstract design, but if you do then it becomes more of an art object than a simple representative painting, as the design continues around the edge.”

"Mia, 2013" by Stephanie Jory

“Part of a series of black and white portraits of actresses from the 1960s and 70s, concentrating on the notion of non-celebrity, where the image encapsulates the work of the actress rather than just her beauty. I wanted to paint the images large and confronting to create a sense of awe, and to paint them in black and white to conjure the idea of a time past but to also highlight the relevance of this when compared to those portraits of actresses today that concentrate on sexualising. This is about the beauty of the actresses' work. This piece is currently on display at One Alfred Place.”

"The Secret" by Asa Gochenour

“Most of us experience those summer days where it is so hot we don't even want to go outside. Like most things in life, great things take time, or are very hard to find. Here in south New Mexico, we have very hot summers. Most people are headed out to the lake with their coolers filled with ice cold drinks and swim trunks in hand! I love a good outing with friends and family, but sometimes it's nice to just be alone. I wanted to portray a place that I feel like only I know about, a secret place to think, to be still and maybe take a dip in the cool, refreshing, crystal clear water. Nature has it's splendors. Go out and find 'The Secret'!”

"Grumpy frogs, 2014" by Cat Trevena

“I am fascinated by the lines I see in the natural world, and the way they fit together to make something new. Colour is also an essential part of my work as I love the powerful impact it has on one's mood, whether the colour be on a wall, an item of clothing or a painting. This painting came alive in my mind when I saw a photo of a frog and fell in love with the rolling hill-like silhouette of the top of its head. The combination of the grumpy-looking downturned mouths on these frogs with the sunny fresh colours makes me smile every time I look at it.”

"A Dayglow Summer in Owlers Wood, 2012" by Dan Booth

“I love living in the Colne Valley, West Yorkshire – it’s a glorious place with stunning landscapes and inspiring rural scenery. I spend a lot of time admiring Owlers Wood – a small wood perched on the side of the valley, near the village of Slaithwaite. I can see it from my living room window and enjoying watching the trees change as the seasons come and go. This screen print was inspired by a photo I took while out strolling one summer’s evening. The sun was low in the sky – sunlight was streaming through the trees, and bursting through the shadows.”

“This is a large modern abstract-expressionistic painting, the second in my new series ‘About the birds’, which took inspiration from the music of Nature and those beautiful beings that we don’t watch anymore. My idea is to draw your attention to them, to look and to feel them. In this world full of cars, smoke and hastiness, we can’t see the beautiful things that nature gives us and that are around us. We should all be free as the birds.”

“‘Early Morning’, inspired by J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, attempts to capture the moment between sleep and wakefulness where everything seems possible and imagination rules. This state lasts only a few minutes each day but, as in Peter Pan, it makes time stand still. ‘Early Morning’ was awarded the ‘Peak District Young Artist of the Year’ award for 2013.”

Now the hall is filled with red.”

"ONE PIECE" by db Waterman

“This collage is part of my ‘Vintage Paris’ series, depicting the 50’s in Paris, France. These collages are built up with all kinds of pictures, photos and images that I have collected over the years. I start an artwork by splashing or stamping the surface with watercolor or acrylic paint; some of the works are created by only arranging photographs in a certain way, whilst others are created with transferred images that are pulled loose or torn. Old and torn, outworn and weathered. Layer upon layer.”

“This piece of unique abstract art called ‘Made of My Memories 1’, is composed of colorful geometric fragments based on unrepeatable moments of the past. This original artwork is dedicated in memoriam to my beloved Grandparents; I have tried to capture the symbolic abstract expression of my childhood and the emotional connection to my loved ones. The flow of memories linger in the background of the fragile young soul. The medium size painting on standard edge canvas was painted with acrylics together with gold foil application.”
