"Robert, 2014" by Mary Osinibi

“This work ‘Robert’ is a portrait of a friend, exploring the conflict that goes on within the human heart. Using colours to represent the ever changing human emotion, this painting captures the transition from one emotion to another, challenging the way in which we perceive and respond to our human emotions. This series of works was inspired by the “Fauvism” style which began around 1900 by a group of Modern artists whose works emphasised painterly qualities and strong colour over realism. Artist included Henri Matisse, Andre Derain and Kees Van Dongen - whose portrait of Mademoiselle Bordenave (1905) is one of my favourite Fauvist works.”

"BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT" by db Waterman

“I'm inspired by weathered walls with posters, peeling paint and all kinds of things in dilapidation. I try to create something new, something beautiful with these elements. This particular artwork is part of my Collages series. These collages are built up with all kinds of pictures, photos and images that I have collected over the years...Old and torn, outworn and weathered, layer upon layer. First I paint a surface with watercolor or acrylic paint and edit it with stamp, paint splashes and scribble drawings. On top of that, the collage layers are put and sometimes pulled loose for an old and weathered effect. By layering a transparent effect is created such as only possible with watercolor paint.”

"Lost in blue trees - yellow, 2014" by Harriet Hue

“Getting lost walking in the trees in a range of different seasons is a wonderful way to find calmness. The quietness allows you to absorb the colours more intently. We ignore the beauty of the landscape whilst day dreaming out the car window, but once alone we see everything more clearly. I used contrasting colours and thick brush strokes to capture the thick intensity of the vegetation in creating this abstract piece.”

""Colourful Sailing Ships", 2014" by gerry porcher

“My love of watercolour painting started five years ago when I retired from full time work. I joined a local art group to learn the basics; I was immediately hooked and worked hard exploring various forms of art but landscapes and seascapes inspired me the most. I love the opportunity to use reflections, which make this painting come to life.”

"It Was Easy For Me, 2014" by Sal Jones

“I hope to create works that are visually exciting and that engage the viewer. I don’t want the work to be too prescriptive but to remain ambiguous and open to individual interpretation. I don’t want a passive observer; I want to create an interaction, a response or empathy that is more personal to the viewer. I’d like to elicit an emotional connection between the character portrayed and the spectator.”

"AUTUMN REFLECTION‏ (LIMITED EDITION 1/50) 16" X 12", 2014" by Laura Fitzpatrick

“My name is Laura Fitzpatrick and I'm an urban photographer based in London. One of the main reasons why I love street photography is because it allows me to capture and document a moment in time that others wouldn't normally see, until they see my work. My current ongoing project is called ‘Reflections of the Street’. All of these images are made up of one shot, one reflection, one real moment in time. This image was created on a crisp autumn afternoon as I walked along the beautiful Wandle river in south London. The sunshine was peeking through the trees and catching the colour off the last few leaves left on the trees. I loved the way all the rich colours and textures were reflecting in the water; they created a watercolour/abstract effect which is very peaceful and dreamy to look at.”

"Red Wave, 2014" by CaRo

“‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’, the ceramic poppies fill the Tower Of London’s moat and spill from its walls, in places breaking over the wall like a red wave. The installation marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Each of the 888,246 poppies represents a British or Commonwealth soldier killed during the war. This photograph captures the wave of poppies as it breaks over the wall. The poppies, standing clear in the sunlight, seem to reach out to the people behind the wall, who in turn are soft and ghostly. A young boy jumps, reaching up to try and touch the crest of the wave, but it's out of reach, as are those we lost in World War 1. With each print sold 20% of the profits go to Help For Heroes and The British Legion.”

"Powder, 2014" by Deleted Artist

This beautiful piece by Charlotte Gerrard was inspired by the Indian festival of Holi where coloured powder is thrown in the streets and the cows are decorated in celebration.

"Underwater Lovers, 2014" by Morphd MoHawk

“While on vacation in Belize, I went scuba diving for the very first time. While underwater I was struck by the vibrant colors and the depth of the blue while the light illuminated and made everything effervescent in their glow. I had to capture that with a series of paintings. This was 2nd in that series - more to come! I sign my work on the sides to avoid disrupting the painting. I also paint my side to extend the painting completely so it can be hung as is, or framed as the buyer wishes.”

"Onions and Globe Artichoke, 2006" by Zoe Elizabeth Norman

“I have been painting for over twenty years and my first exhibition caught the eye of a renowned publishing house which set me off on a successful illustrating career. These days, you will find me painting at the bottom of the garden in my log cabin studio in the heart of Norfolk, surrounded by agriculture and huge dramatic skies. My studio is full of art books, pots, tea cups and vases, jars of dead beetles, butterflies and bees (all found already deceased), many paintings finished or half completed and lots of reference photos, sketches and inspirational quotes and prints. I can get lost in a painting for hours, completely engrossed in the excitement of creating a new painting. I paint in watercolours building up layers and layers of rich colour and detail; I often leave the background white so as not to detract from the image.”
