"Waterlogged, 2014" by Alexandra Buckle

“I enjoy woodland walks and countryside views, marvelling at the constant changes in light, weather and season. I get excited by interesting light and shadow and engaging colour palettes, then take pleasure in translating these scenic discoveries into linocuts. I favour the ‘reduction’ process, which involves cutting and printing each layer of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image. Mistakes cannot be rectified and the block is destroyed in the process. All prints must be created at once as there is no going back to an earlier cut of the block. In 2011 and 2012 I was delighted to have my work selected for to Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and in 2014 I had linocuts chosen for the Society of Women Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries. This particular work is a reduction linocut of a wintry tree reflected in a pool of water.”

"More Snow On The Way, 2012" by David Pott

“Heavy, deep snow is quite rare in this part of the Pennines, which makes it all the more transformative when it falls as heavily as a did a few years ago, inspiring this painting. I deliberately used thick, juicy slabs of paint to indicate the deep snowdrifts; contrasting the whiteness of the fresh snow with the dark, warm tones in the snow-laden clouds.”

"Rye in the Snow, 2013" by Brian Tucker

“Until Christmas all proceeds from sales will be donated to the charity Children in Need. This watercolour painting was inspired by visit to Rye one winter day. This old and beautiful town in Sussex is a favourite place of mine and offers artists many opportunities for subjects to paint. After 40 years working in Aerospace, I now enjoy painting watercolours of the many places we have and continue to visit; I hope others may find my paintings pleasant reminders of exciting holidays and travel that they too have undertaken!”

"Walkers in the Snow, 2014" by Teresa Tanner

“I love Breugel’s paintings and this is my landscape homage to one of his famous works, ‘Hunters in the Snow’, which I have brought into the 21st Century. The hills or fells are painted using a similar colour palette of green and blue hues, contrasted with the deep browns and greys of the walkers and dogs. I used mixed media with touches of ink.” Today only, save 10% off your order with code 'ADVENT' - https://www.artfinder.com/advent-calendar/

"STORYLINES A2 (White), 2012" by Dex

“London’s iconic tube map, transformed into a pit-stop journey through styles of storytelling, with the individual tube lines turned into genres of literature. The depths of the Northern Line have been made into the aptly named Horror Line. The Bakerloo Line coursing past Sherlock Holmes’s Baker Street becomes the Crime & Mystery Line. The pink trajectory of the Hammersmith & City is converted to the Romance Line. Stations falling on intersecting Storylines get a sub-genre cross over. This is part of the Literary London art print collection from Run For The Hills.” Today only, we've a new Dex print made exclusively for Artfinder to give away in our Advent Calendar - https://www.artfinder.com/advent-calendar/

""Arctic Fox", 2013" by Louise Jenkins

“This one-off collage was a commission made for the ONCA Gallery in Brighton, for their exhibition ‘Our Time In Ice’. It depicts an endangered Arctic Fox, peering through the layers of time. The layers of paper and patterns represent the melting layers of ice, within which are buried the memories of long forgotten animals and communities lost. What we see is the fox peering from the brink, through the ice, into the future. The patterns used around the fox’s face are based on Inuit embroidery.” Today only, save 20% on all Artfinder Gift Cards in our advent calendar - https://www.artfinder.com/advent-calendar/

"That'll Stop Him (on gorgeous water colour paper)" by Juan Sly

An ironic plagiarism of Roy Lichtenstein. “The man in the painting that I copied off the painting he copied from another painting is shooting down the man who copied his painting that he copied. Get it?” - Sly. This December, buy one of Sly's paintings and get one free in our advent calendar - https://www.artfinder.com/advent-calendar/

"The Birds of Carros #3, 2014" by Frederic Belaubre

“On the leaf of paper, in the morning sun, a small bird landed. And then another, the wings still trembling, then one more. Barely a vibration in the calm and silence, and then, and then successive palpitation of feathers of leaves and of branches. A cat is watching...” This December, save 40% on Frederic's paintings in our advent calendar - https://www.artfinder.com/advent-calendar/
