“Water and the way it abstracts and distorts images has always fascinated me. In this painting it is almost as if the water itself is carrying the swimmer away; merging itself with her so the water and the swimmer become one entity. This almost mirrors the sensations one feels when submerged. Totally alone, merged with the underwater world.”
I'm impressed by the fresh mountain air and bright colours of the Carpathian Mountains! A bright sunny morning in June in a mountain village. Alexander Kriushin is works in the traditions of the European school of fine arts, combined with the southern temperament of execution. The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.
