“I enjoy woodland walks and countryside views, marvelling at the constant changes in light, weather and season. I get excited by interesting light and shadow and engaging colour palettes, then take pleasure in translating these scenic discoveries into linocuts. I favour the ‘reduction’ process, which involves cutting and printing each layer of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image. Mistakes cannot be rectified and the block is destroyed in the process. All prints must be created at once as there is no going back to an earlier cut of the block. In 2011 and 2012 I was delighted to have my work selected for to Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and in 2014 I had linocuts chosen for the Society of Women Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries. This particular work is a reduction linocut of a wintry tree reflected in a pool of water.”
