Art of the Day: "Tarot Reader Girl - Optical Illusion Skull Portrait - Halloween, 2016" by Olga Beliaeva Watercolour

“I have always been bewitched by optical illusions in works of art, especially in ancient engravings. Famous artists liked to cipher a mystical image of a skull in their works too; my favorite picture is "The Ambassadors" by Hans Holbein the Younger. I have given in to mysticism too and have created this work where two young girls are reading the tarot cards, creating illusion of an ominous skull.”
