“When I see a landscape, I see lots of colour, many lines and areas which I then block in. Snow, for instance, is not just white. It is lilac, purple, pale blue and jade, and I put this down into my painting. ‘Snowy Hills’ is a large pastel painting, where you can layer colour on colour and still see all the colours...I am a colour addict!”
I'm impressed by the fresh mountain air and bright colours of the Carpathian Mountains! A bright sunny morning in June in a mountain village. Alexander Kriushin is works in the traditions of the European school of fine arts, combined with the southern temperament of execution. The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.
