Art of the Day: "Mary Stubberfield, The Village on the Hill, 2013" by Mary Stubberfield

“I was inspired to paint The Village on the Hill after visiting the village of Saint Paul-de-vence while staying in Nice recently. I wanted to see a typical Village Perche and also where Marc Chagall, who has always inspired me, was buried. I tried to keep the palette of colours warm and make the buildings really stand out against the background. The narrow winding streets are wonderful to sketch and explore, with paintable scenes around every corner. In this artwork I wanted to capture the village as a whole, while conveying the background of the Mediterranean Sea.” - Mary Stubberfield

Alexander Kriushin is works in the traditions of the European school of fine arts, combined with the southern temperament of execution. The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.

With this painting, I tried to illustrate my meditative state of mind. Gold and everything that shines and has worth are inside us. We must close our eyes to see things clearly and to find our inner treasure. Original acrylic painting. Signed on the front. Unique and one of a kind with a certificate of authenticity.
