Art of the Day: "LOVE STORY, 2014" by Galina Zimmatore

“Painting with a palette knife is a bit like putting jam and cream on freshly made scones for afternoon tea. The paint is spread on thickly in short or long strokes to create a textured 3D effect. Each stroke is individual and is not blended together like brush painting. I work on one area of the canvas at a time because the paint cannot be layered over and you have only one chance to get it right. Therefore I tend to spend several hours non stop to get the effect I want to create. Having made several smaller palette knife paintings which have sold very well on Artfinder I have had several requests for larger sizes so this is the first of my large palette knife painting and is exclusive to Artfinder. The Love Story revolves around a young couple walking slowly down a lamp lit promenade enchanted by each others presence.”

Alexander Kriushin is works in the traditions of the European school of fine arts, combined with the southern temperament of execution. The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.

With this painting, I tried to illustrate my meditative state of mind. Gold and everything that shines and has worth are inside us. We must close our eyes to see things clearly and to find our inner treasure. Original acrylic painting. Signed on the front. Unique and one of a kind with a certificate of authenticity.
